I think I've been spending a lot of time lately on the chain stores, such as
Tops Friendly Markets here in the Finger Lakes, but the heart and soul of The Market Report (what I find most interesting) is the independent stores. I'm excited to be reporting on the Bliss Foodmart (formerly Bliss ShurFine) here in Manchester, NY, and even better, we have more independent stores coming down the road. More on that a little later. In other news, because I am a few days behind, I have another post coming at noon today.
These independent stores are undoubtedly smaller. This particular location, for instance, is only 16,000 square feet.
Like many stores that belonged to the now-defunct ShurFine group, the Bliss Foodmart retains its ShurFine sign. I don't know for sure, but I'd assume the store now sells Best Yet products.

Looking at their recent advertisements, it is true that they sell Best Yet products. Same goes for Weedsport Supermarket, which also still dons its Shurfine signage.
