Heading just over half a mile from yesterday's ShopRite to visit this CTown. I don't know too much on the history here, though I do know current owner Edwin Sanchez bought it from a previous owner, Jack Deep, who also owned Deep's Hardware and Deep's Trellis Restaurant next door, in 2005. A remodel happened at that time or soon thereafter.
Inside, we see Krasdale decor that we've seen previously (Greenpoint, Bravo Dover, Bravo Sunset Park). Prepared foods and deli are on the left side wall, with beer in the back left corner. Meat runs along the back wall. In an interesting reversal from what we typically see, dairy is in the second-to-last aisle and frozen lines the last aisle. Bakery is in the front corner. While the decor is original to 2005 or so (and we'll see some wear and tear), quite a few of the fixtures have been updated.
A look down the first aisle. While ShopRite certainly has more in the direction of ethnic foods than A&P would have, CTown goes much further.
While the decor is generally looking quite good, we see some slipping letters. "Delicatess n" and "Fresh P oduce" in the grand aisle here. The beer cases look newer than the rest of the store.
Deli and cheese on the side wall. Here we're looking towards the front wall of the store.
Meats along the back wall in what appear to be much newer cases again. A service butcher and seafood window is about 3/4 of the way across the back wall.
Aisle 2 is the first grocery aisle, looking here towards the front wall.
International aisles. Notice how the grocery stock is stocked very high, well above the height of the shelf. Maximizes products on the sales floor and conserves precious backroom space in this 25,000 square foot store (which is larger than most CTown locations).
Meat decor looking very good.
Dairy in aisle 10, with what look to be older and repainted cases.
Frozen in what look to be rather new cases and lots of paper goods in the last aisle. The front corner of this aisle has bakery and bread...
And for some reason beyond me, I went completely overboard photographing the front-end, so enjoy these three pictures.
Nice checkout lane markers which I believe are part of this decor. The flooring might be from a previous remodel.
That wraps up Danbury! Up next we'll be hitting an independent store in a small town to the east, stay tuned! Tomorrow's post will be on The Independent Edition.
