Our second Budd Lake store is here on 46 just west of the Stanhope/Netcong interchange with 80, and just east of Verdi Fresh, our other post today. The 34,000 square foot store was built in the 1970s (and previously looked much more like a 70s A&P) as an A&P, which eventually closed in the 90s when the Hackettstown store was replaced.
Tomorrow we are moving into the next town east on 46 on the other side of 80 for a wonderful store over on The Market Report!
This A&P very likely opened on June 1, 1975. (If not that date, then it opened sometime during the prior few days.) This store closed (and the then-new Hackettstown store at the intersection of Route 46 and Naughright Road opened) sometime during 1999, though I was unable to pinpoint an exact date.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the A&P that you profiled in this blog entry was a Sav-A-Center during part of its life. (It became a Sav-A-Center on June 21, 1987. I do not know when it reverted back to being a regular A&P.)
