Original Tenant: A&P Address: 525 US-46, Belvidere, NJ Opened:  Between 1988 and 1995 Closed:  2015 Later Tenants:  vacant Photographed:  December 2018 We are on route 46 again for the second fully-intact closed A&P along the highway (see Naughright Road in Hackettstown  from just a few days ago). This 37,000 square foot store was built at some point between 1988 and 1995 to replace a Centennial store next door , which later became a Rite Aid and then was subdivided. This, like Nykun's Store and our other post today in Belvidere, was a stop on my way out to the Coal Region of northeastern PA back in December 2018, and now I want to write my northeastern PA stores. But sadly, we have to get through plenty more before we can embark on NEPA. The good news is that there's lots of exciting stuff before then! ShopRite of Mansfield Owner: Dominick & David Romano / RoNetco Supermarkets Opened:  unknown Previous Tenants:  none Cooperative:  Wakefern Food Corp. Location:  1965 NJ-57, Mansfield, NJ Photographed:  July 2020 Just across the street from the Weis in Hackettstown is the ShopRite here in Mansfield. Once again, you can get from the Weis to the ShopRite without going out to the road, although here we do have to cross an actual road. The 78,000 square foot store has very obviously been expanded many times, but it mostly works. We enter in the corner, under the logo, and turn right to enter the grand aisle in what seems to be the latest expansion to the far right. That protrudes out from the front of the older store, and then we move into the main building for bakery and seafood, and from there the layout is pretty standard -- pharmacy/HABA in the first aisle, meat on the back wall, one aisle each of frozen and dairy to the far left with additional dairy on the back wall and two add

Weis Markets Opened: mid-2000s Previous Tenants:  none Location:  2045 NJ-57, Hackettstown, NJ Photographed:  July 2020 It's time for our final Weis in New Jersey! This store was built in the mid-2000s, and based on the Weis locations we've seen so far in New Jersey, it's predictably built just 1600 feet from a large RoNetco ShopRite . I don't have a clear idea of how this store does compared to the ShopRite, but again, I would assume Weis wouldn't be keeping these stores open this long if they were miserable failures. I visited these stores on a Tuesday afternoon, not exactly peak grocery shopping time, so both the Weis and the ShopRite (which is technically over in Mansfield) were absolutely empty. This is quite an attractive store, with a pretty standard layout that we've come to expect from the Weis locations. There was one change going on at the time of my visit, which we'll see shortly. The grand aisle is on the left side of the store, with produce to
