I mentioned that when I was in Norfolk with my family, we ended up liking Food Lion quite a bit even though it's a lower-end and generally unremarkable store. Prices were solid and selection was more than good enough, but many of the stores were very boring. This store is by far the nicest Food Lion in the area, at least that I visited, and also the largest at closer to 45,000 than 35,000 square feet. By the way, there was also an A&P in this mall.We enter to bakery/deli in the right front corner, with produce in the rest of the first aisle. Meat and seafood line the back wall, with dairy/frozen on the left and beer/wine in the front left corner.
As we see, there's also a larger selection of prepared foods here although again, the deli and bakery were closed for the night.
Nice big bakery, and the deli is much more substantial here. We can also see that the decor is more deluxe here, and the text doesn't overlap with the blue stripe -- at least in this department!
Very attractive produce merchandising here, too.
And there's not a whole lot to see in the grocery aisles, but it's still very nice. Clean and organized, making this a favorite for our food shopping that week.
No service meat and seafood, but we see how much nicer this decor looks with the black fixtures than the white cases at Tidewater North.
These refrigerators and freezers all seem brand-new, too. They may have been put in at the time of the renovation.
Dairy and liquor take up the last aisle.
Looking towards the back.
Beautiful cases! The fixtures really can make or break a supermarket.
And here we have the rest of the beer and wine in the front left corner.
Here's a look across the front end, back towards the beer/wine area.
Two lion tours down, one to go! Tomorrow we're jumping about three miles east out to Virginia Beach before returning to Norfolk as we move into downtown. Check it out here on The Market Report!
