Sprouts Farmers Market
Opened: 2020A few months ago, we saw the Sprouts Farmers Market in Marlton, NJ. Sprouts has been expanding lately in the Philadelphia area, with a few stores in PA/NJ/DE in this region. The newest is in Philadelphia itself, but one of the newer ones is here in Dresher, which opened in September 2020.
The store is one of the anchors of this mixed-use development (which, by the way, is across the street from a similar development anchored by a Fresh Market), and it's a nice example of a newer Sprouts.
It's a similar layout to the Marlton store, but just a few differences are present. Deli/bakery are on the right side here, with meat/seafood behind it in the back right corner. Produce is on the back wall with dairy in the back left corner, with frozen on the left side wall. Grocery and HABA are on the left/center area of the store, with bulk foods in the front.
While I find this decor package quite attractive, it feels a little bit gray to me. I'm not sure exactly why since I feel like on paper I'd really like this decor. I think maybe the wall color is too gray -- the walls might need to be beige instead to warm it up a little.
Cheese and prepared foods are on the right-side wall, behind the deli-bakery island.
We can also see that this setup is a lot like the Fresh Market we recently saw in Chestnut Hill.
The design of this area is quite attractive, though, and I think the warmer colored wood panels help. It did surprise me a little bit, though, that the meat and seafood departments seemed to be rather small.
Here we can see looking out from bakery across the middle of the store. Produce is on the back wall.
It's a very attractive produce department, although I again feel like it's a bit small for a store that focuses on perishables. It seems that there's more space-fillers than I would expect, which also makes the store feel a bit disorganized.
Nonetheless, it's a nice department and I like the way it takes up the whole back wall.
And then we move on to dairy in the back left corner. Frozen foods line the left-side wall.
I think the general grocery selection here at Sprouts is a little larger and more focused on natural foods than The Fresh Market's, which seemed to be smaller and more focused on gourmet foods.
Up in the front we have bulk foods and HABA, seen here.
Here's a closer look at the HABA department.
And on the other side of that is the bulk food department, opposite the registers. Again, it seems that this is very close to The Fresh Market's setup but it's hard to say if one is intentionally imitating the other or if they just simultaneously grew that way.
And we finish up with a look across the front-end back towards deli/bakery. There's an entrance and exit at either side of the front wall.

Tomorrow we move on to another store in town which is well known among fans of grocery history, so come back here to check it out!
