Lucas is bringing us another store tour today, this one of the Redner's in Quakertown! I've unfortunately never been to Quakertown myself, but I'm glad Lucas has, given that this Redner's closed last year. This is the first good tour of a warehouse-style Redner's we've had, as compared to their Fresh Market concept. The 56,000 square foot store looks fairly typical of the warehouse stores, from what I understand although my experience with Redner's is limited regardless. Aisles run parallel to the front wall, with produce at the front, perishables on the back wall, and frozen foods in the second-to-last aisle.
The interior here is clearly much lower-end in appearance and setup than the Fresh Market stores, and the focus is value. The displays are simple and the selection is pretty mainstream across the board, but it is a full supermarket and not a discount or limited-assortment store.
Here's a look to the right of the entrance, where the registers are along with customer service on the front wall.
Nuts and dried fruit get their own department in the front corner here, with the wall of value extending along the left side of the store.
As we can see, emphasis is on quantity and price.
Unlike a lot of chains, especially mainstream or lower-end regionals like Redner's, they actually have their own storebrand for many products.
The grocery aisles are much more typical of what you might see in any other supermarket, although again they are value-focused.
The aisles are divided down the middle from front to back.
And as we get into the back of the store, we have the perishables and service counters lining the entire back wall.
I've always liked Redner's, as I find they're reasonably priced with a good selection while not sacrificing quality. You might not be able to find more specialized grocery items here, but they'll certainly have all the staples on your list.
Here we see deli and the rest of the service departments. You can see that their stores feel quite large even though this one is not all that big, at just over 50,000 square feet.
Bread facing the deli area.
I suppose this bench is for customers waiting at the deli -- something I've seen only in a few other stores, although something I've sometimes seen in stores that have a lot of older shoppers.
A very expansive frozen foods department with a lower coffin case in the middle means we can see the whole area all at once.
And dairy is on the outside of the store.
Looks like this butter and eggs section may be in the front right corner, with the front end continuing out to the side of that.
That brings us to the end of our tour of this Redner's, but we do have one more stop in this area before we move on, another Pennsylvania born and raised chain in Pennsburg about eight miles west. Come back on Monday to check it out!
Can you please check out the Acme in Oak Ridge to see about the renovation progress and post it on here?
