We are returning to what used to be
Super Exito at Botany Village! The roughly 13,000 square foot store has completed a major renovation and has also rebranded as CTown. It's possible the store was sold prior to its rebrand and renovation, but I'm not sure. This store comes in at about 3,000 square feet smaller than the new Food Universe just about 0.6 miles west, and it's also possible that the store's extensive renovation and rebrand was in anticipation of the Food Universe's opening.
All of my conclusions from the prior post still ring true for me, that the store looks great but has lost a lot of personality and a lot of selection. Produce was good-looking and fresh, but the whole store seems very expensive (as have a lot of the CTowns and Krasdale stores around me lately).
But it has been kept up very well, very clean and well-stocked.
I commented on the lack of decor after the first aisle and it turns out they simply weren't done installing all of the decor yet. Nothing for the packaged meats on the back wall, but the service departments in the last aisle now have department signage...
It looks good, but a bit cheap I would say. It's better than the absolutely no department signage that the Food Universe has.
And some new signage, including a CTown logo, has been installed on the front wall.
This store is looking really good these days and is definitely in a position to better compete with the Food Universe and the
SuperFresh just a block east in part of a former Pathmark. The store overall feels more professional than it used to, which is definitely an upgrade. We'll see if customers respond well to the renovation, or if they switch to Food Universe! Lots more to see today, though, so check out our other posts here:
