We're back at the Parsippany ShopRite after several years (see my 2019 tour here) to check out the latest renovation after its grand reopening in May. The nearly 90,000 square foot store is looking good after the renovations but they were mostly cosmetic. On the other hand, the store had been updated in small ways here and there over the years, so fixtures and other parts of the store didn't need a huge update.Although the store did have its grand reopening, there's still a few little things around that are still in progress. Here's a look inside the foyer, where the wall is being updated with what will likely be new Sunrise signage.
And entering, we see the layout has not changed in the grand aisle, although the decor is new. In my original post I have a floor plan diagram that's very helpful in understanding this store's layout.
Here's a look at the massive prepared foods section on the right side of the grand aisle, looking great with new decor.
Produce hasn't been changed much, except for some new bins and signage around, but the awnings remain from previously. They match pretty well with the new decor and weren't that old to begin with.
The produce department does feel a little small considering the size of the store, but it's not too bad. It's also that it's boxed in in this front corner, rather than open to the rest of the grand aisle. You can see the deli to the left behind it.
And here's a look into the large liquor store on the far left side of the supermarket.
New signage looking great at the deli! I do love wood like this.
And extending out the side of the deli is the cheese counter, with the cafe behind it.
Minor updates in the cafe, which is still looking really good.
I believe the fixtures in prepared foods were replaced, as everything looks very new.
And the food looks great! Not to mention the brand-new glass prepared foods cases.
And the huge bakery in the back of the grand aisle is looking even better now with the new decor!
Packaged bread is opposite the service bakery on the back of the prepared foods island.
Bread and bagels looking good as always...
Pretty substantial meat and seafood service counters at the back wall, beyond the bakery department.
And The Meating Place signage remains! Again, I love the wood. The floor is in good shape but I would rather see new flooring throughout the store.
Customer service and pharmacy on the front wall are also looking good. I like that there are certain themes that carry through the whole store, like the backlit signage and the font used in the department signage.
Pharmacy and dietitian are at the front of the HABA aisle, which as you may recall was renovated prior to the rest of the store.
In the back corner, we see a nice new dairy barn, along with an older Scan It Here sign hanging from the ceiling.
The freezer department looks old, too, and maybe is in need of new flooring and a fresh paint job on the cases. This area looks exactly like it did before the renovation, except perhaps for these category markers.
Dairy is also looking great with these new wooden signs.
And I love the lighting, which I believe is on top of the dairy case pointing up at the signs from below.
Very cool signage in the frozen department in the front, too, with the wood paneling now repurposed for snow-topped mountains!
And the Sunrise name is prominent throughout the store, along with this large sign across the front of the store!
Finishing up with these great pictures on the front wall, including the original Sunrise Market on Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell!
I believe this picture is also hanging in the West Caldwell location. That's all for the ShopRite in Parsippany, but I think it looks really good! Another ShopRite renovation coming your way tomorrow... although unfortunately it's not quite as good as this one.
The font this store used for the department signs, especially the one for "The Kitchen", looks like the same font used in Winn-Dixie's "Down Down" decor (and Winn-Dixie calls their prepared foods section "The Kitchen" as well): https://albertsonsfloridablog.blogspot.com/2021/10/the-fanciest-winn-dixie-in-all-land.html
ReplyDeleteOoh you're right, that's very similar. But check out the Lincoln Market in Harlem, Manhattan. That store's bakery/deli area decor is so similar to Winn-Dixie's that I wonder if it was either the same design firm or else an oddly specific ripoff: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lincoln-market-new-york?select=aOp1F3MUsLHEAEdnQbtINA
DeleteReally nice décor here!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
DeleteThe décor looks great, and I'm glad they kept "The Meating Place"! The exterior could use an upgrade, too, though. They could at least replace the lettering with the new ShopRite script.
ReplyDeleteI agree to all of that!
DeleteThank you for the kind words, this was our very first remodel. Some rookie mistakes and room for improvement for sure!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think you did a great job here for sure, and I've loved your recent work on Nutley. (I saw you commented on that post too, so I'll respond more over there!)
