On the other side of Main Street, we recently saw a Save-A-Lot that closed and a former ACME, but there is still a supermarket in business in this neighborhood. The Bravo Supermarket of Wilkes-Barre opened in the summer of 2020 in a small space of under 7000 square feet previously occupied by an auto parts store.I'm assuming that the new Bravo in the former Save-A-Lot building replaced this one, and I don't think this store is in business anymore but I'm not sure. This older Bravo is very nice if very small, but definitely a full supermarket. We have produce in the first aisle, which is double-wide, with meat on the back wall and dairy/frozen in the last aisle.
All of the fixtures and decor appear to have been brand-new when this store opened. It doesn't look like anything was secondhand, and it looks really good.
Despite the store's small size, there's a full butcher in-store, which seems to be important to this store. That's why I assumed they'd be adding things like a larger produce section and a butcher (and probably things like deli and hot food) into the Save-A-Lot space before they opened there, which they did.
A look across the back wall, with some sale items, kitchenwares, and dairy at the far side.
Although the grocery aisles are definitely limited to the basics and a lot of Latin American items, they're fully stocked and very clean. As you can see, this store is completely spotless.
The Save-A-Lot closed around two and a half years after this store opened, so it's unlikely the two were related. Instead, as I said on the Save-A-Lot post, no Save-A-Lot owner wanted to buy that store from corporate.
Customer service is at the front of the last aisle. I don't believe this store has a deli.
Looking towards the back wall of the store...
And the small but pristine front-end...
This store looks really good and has a lot of selection in a very small space. I am excited to see what they do with the Save-A-Lot space when I get out here again! Tomorrow we're headed to the east of downtown Wilkes-Barre to check out a former supermarket, so head over to Grocery Archaeology to read all about it tomorrow!
