ShopRite of Mount Pocono
Owner: Bill Bracey
We enter on the left side of the store to produce, with seafood, deli, and bakery at the back of the grand aisle. Meat lines the back wall with prepared foods and beer/wine in the front right corner.
This store has a similar decor package to Daleville, but it's a bit on the older side. It looks like there's a combination of an older decor package and newer decor in the deli/beer/wine area, which matches most of what we saw in Daleville.
But like Daleville, this store is very spacious. It definitely feels less spacious, though, and feels less "out there". There's a Weis, a Walmart, and an ALDI within a mile or mile and a half or so.
Notice that the seafood department's decor is not unlike that we saw in Daleville's meat department, so my guess is both stores had some renovation recently but retain a fair amount of their older decor too.
Moving into the grocery aisles...
Again, spacious but less so than Daleville. This store didn't seem as busy as the other one, which might just have to do with the day or time I was there -- although that could also be a result of the competition in this area.
Moving along the back wall. Again, see the backlit meat decor here.
Aisle 12!
And here we begin to see some newer decor. Honestly, though, the two decor packages blend really well and especially in Daleville, it's hard to tell what's old and what's new.
The Bill's name comes back, this time for Bill's Pet Center!
Frozen foods are towards the right side of the store.
And similar to Daleville, only part of the decor has been updated here, with new signage and graphics in the last aisle for the dairy department.
And here's a look at the prepared foods and beer/wine departments...
Again, we can see that this is much more updated than the rest of the store. The pharmacy faces the prepared foods department in this little hallway area, which actually extends beyond the front wall of the store.
And for a look at the front-end...

Welcome to an extraordinarily foggy winter day at the Mount Pocono ShopRite! This 80,000 square foot store is one of three northeastern PA ShopRites owned by Bill's Supermarkets, the others being in Daleville and Moosic. The building was originally an Ames department store, and a Bill's ShurSave predated the ShopRite like the Daleville store. Bill's joined Wakefern after leaving ShurSave around 2005.We enter on the left side of the store to produce, with seafood, deli, and bakery at the back of the grand aisle. By the way, we've seen this store before, albeit only briefly. That's all for the Mount Pocono ShopRite! But in a tiny town just five miles to the northeast of here, we are going to take a look at an independent store tomorrow. Check it out on The Independent Edition!
Mount Pocono is also the home of "Beautiful Mount Airy Lodge"!
ReplyDeleteThe NY Lottery's favorite place - they seemed to be a big sponsor when that lottery had a game show many years ago.
DeleteI think it was not too long before the lodge closed up, so maybe they were trying a last gasp to get their name out and draw people in.
