Today's post is a quick look at this liquor store in Greendale, along West Boylston Street, which was originally a grocer. Worcester city directories list Leo Tyler here in 1937, though it's possible the roughly 4000 square foot store was a grocery store after that. It certainly has the look. These days it's what New Englanders call a package store, or (by my understanding) in certain parts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire a "packie" for short, which is the local slang for liquor store. Since I don't know more about this store's history, I don't have a lot more to say, but on Monday we'll be seeing another store on West Boylston Street with some cool history!
