Metro Acres Market
Opening: TBA
Signage is up outside and the inside is close to done as the shelves were being stocked when I visited a few weeks ago. Interestingly, this store has almost exactly the same decor package as the Fine Fare across the street. You can't quite see the produce department sign on the left, but it was in the same style as these signs. The aisle markers are roughly the same, too.
Opening: TBA
Owner: unknown
Previous Tenants: Rite Aid
Cooperative: Retail Grocers Group
Location: 4188 Broadway, Washington Heights, Manhattan, NY
Remember when I said a Fine Fare was coming to Broadway and 178th? Turns out it's instead going to be a Metro Acres Market. It makes sense that the branding has been changed, especially given that there's a Fine Fare right around the corner. There is currently one other Metro Acres Market, which is in lower Manhattan on Clinton Street. That store was a Fine Fare for years before becoming Metro Acres in 2019. It's the same group as City Acres Market, which has locations in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the Financial District of Manhattan, and Long Island City in Queens. Both Metro Acres and City Acres operate under Retail Grocers Group, a cooperative of store owners that also includes Fine Fare and Shop Fair stores.Photographed: September 25, 2024

I'll be back very soon to check out the store once it opens! For now, here's today's other stores -- and stay tuned for more Stop & Shop coverage tomorrow!
