The Olde Shrewsbury Village, a shopping center (set up kind of like an outlet mall more than a typical strip mall) constructed around 1990, was once home to a roughly 30,000 square foot Burlington Coat Factory. When the clothing store vacated its space between 2011 and 2014, India Market moved in, opening in 2015. (The operator also does business in other locations as Farmer's India Market.)
It's one of the larger Indian supermarkets in the central MA area, especially compared to the much smaller Patel Brothers just west, for instance. You enter to an expansive produce department, with a counter to the right selling some prepared foods, juices, and the like.
A halal meat department sits in the back right corner of the store (not too many Indian supermarkets around here have dedicated meat departments, in my experience), with frozen foods along the rest of the back wall and continuing down a few of the aisles. The left side of the store is also home to the bulk-package foods department and a nonfoods department.
The store, like quite a few other Indian supermarkets I've been to, is fairly plain inside, with not much decor or cosmetic decoration of any kind around. But it's very clean and spacious.
Halal meat is in the back right corner.
And frozen and refrigerated foods on the rest of the back wall.
As we can see, this is a large store with a lot more selection than the smaller Patel Brothers, but I think they're probably far enough apart that they can continue to coexist (which they've done since this store opened around 10 years ago).
It looks like most or all of the fixtures were brand-new when the store opened.
A necessary part of many Asian, Indian, Latin, and Caribbean supermarkets... the section for giant sacks of rice!
And nonfoods, including kitchenwares and various home goods, are in the front left corner, I believe.
And in another corner of the store, a very international selection of beverages: plenty of Indian drinks, but also Jarritos, a Latin American soda.
And a look at the front-end...
This store is in the far eastern part of Shrewsbury, right near the border with Northborough (yes, Northborough is west of Westborough, which is southwest of Southborough, and all are south of Marlborough). Tomorrow we're crossing route 9 to tour a large supermarket in the massive Northborough Crossing mall!

  1. But, what about Eastborough, and Borough Center and Oldborough? ;) Sorry - must be having a case of Chathamitis (over here in NY, that is).

The shelving etc. looks about the same as what is in the Albany NY store (which is an old Office Max space), so likely something they get for stores (being neither was a food store prior).

Before you pointed out where it was (I do sort of remember that outlet setup from years ago over there) and of course, the age, I was going to say it reminded me of a Christmas Tree Shop design.

    1. Yep! It still has the Christmas Tree Shops look. And makes sense about the shelving and fixtures, they probably have a vendor who builds those items custom for new stores.
