Apologies for the terrible picture out the window of a bus, but here's a look at a former Shaw's of 53,000 square feet. It dates back to 1990, when it was a new-build Shaw's -- the only one in the Montachusett region, as far as I know -- and it closed in 2019 along with three other stores. It looks like the space was or is being prepared for an Amazon Fresh, given the renderings posted to the real estate company's website. The renovation didn't end up looking much like those renderings, though, without the signature Amazon Fresh facade. So it's not clear to me whether Amazon Fresh is still interested.

Here's a look at the back of the store -- clearly a former supermarket, check out those loading docks -- which was also being redone when I was here in the spring of 2023. We'll see if Amazon Fresh or another supermarket will be moving in here, but for now, the space remains vacant. Tomorrow's post will be a look at the big-chain supermarket nearby!
