Welcome to Acton! It's a decently-sized town of around 25,000 people, and is located in western-central Middlesex County. We're going to see a couple stores here in town, starting with Mei Ya Market. It opened right before I visited in August 2024, which I wasn't aware of at the time of my visit, so I unwittingly captured the store right after its soft opening. As we'll see, it wasn't fully opened just yet. Prior to Mei Ya's presence here, the space was occupied by the Acton Asian Market from 2021 to 2024.
The produce department -- clearly not fully set up -- is to the right upon entering, with refrigerated items and service departments (mostly closed, at least temporarily) line the perimeter and the grocery aisles run side-to-side on the left side.
The food court is in the back-right corner, which was still closed when I visited. I'm not sure whether it's since been reopened.
Beyond that, we enter the refrigerated foods section towards the back, with still-closed meat and seafood counters on the back wall. At around 13,000 square feet, the space isn't large, but it feels too big because there wasn't enough to fill the space when I visited. It looks better now, but you can still see some more recent pictures online with empty shelves in the background.
Here's a look at the rest of the store from the produce department. The registers are along the front wall under the Asian Market text.
No fresh meat or seafood (at the time of my visit), but packaged and frozen selections were around.
The grocery aisles were pretty standard. They run side-to-side, and because of the store's unusual nearly-triangular shape, they get progressively longer back to front.
As we circle back up towards the front of the store, we pass back through the produce area inside the entrance, and a look at the registers lining the front wall...
Here in the northern part of Acton, there are two other supermarkets -- a Trader Joe's, and a location of a local chain that we'll be checking out tomorrow!
