A Market
Opened: 2019 in current location; 2007 previously
Owner: Kirk Rawson
A Market started as a smaller natural food store in another space in this mall in 2007, according to this article in the Newport Daily News. But because of the economic crash right after that, the store didn't follow through on its plans to move into the former Almacs space until 2019.
A Market appears to be independent and, as we see to the right here, has Field Day products (the two white and yellow seltzer bottles are Field Day, although they're blurry). Field Day comes from UNFI, which is based in Providence.
A Market also has a location in Manchester, New Hampshire.
The best I can tell, produce and meat are at the front of the store, with dairy and frozen on the right-side wall. Grocery aisles run side-to-side, with bulk foods and HABA towards the back. Deli and cheese are at the back of the store, with the Keenwah Cafe (previously a separate restaurant; now within the supermarket) on the left-side wall.
The bulk selection is substantial here, and it appears to be in the back-right corner.
And it looks like HABA is behind that.
Prepared foods/deli and cheese in the back of the store on the left side, it looks like.
And on the other side of this refrigerator is the cafe.
Here's a look at the entrance and exit, and front-end...

Welcome to Newport, Rhode Island! The famous vacation destination is on the southern coast of the state, home to a well-known series of waterfront mansions and other tourist stops. But our contributor Lucas isn't bringing us photos of the mansions -- he's gotten pictures of A Market, a natural food store in downtown a mile north of the mansion row.
A disclaimer as we tour the store: I've never actually been here, so I don't know what the layout is for sure. I've made my best guess based on the pictures. The 26,000 square foot supermarket was originally a location of Rhode Island chain Almacs, whose location in southwestern Providence we saw last May, later becoming an Eastside Marketplace. Their Providence store was acquired by Stop & Shop, then closed in last year's round of closures.A Market started as a smaller natural food store in another space in this mall in 2007, according to this article in the Newport Daily News. Thanks to Lucas for bringing us these photos! Lucas has also photographed a Shaw's not far outside Newport, which you can tour here. Tomorrow, we're off to Fall River, MA!
