Welcome back to the SuperFresh in Passaic, which is nearing completion of its interior and exterior renovation. The outside has progressed nicely since my previous visit, although I don't know why the sign's colors are so muted. The SuperFresh logo should be much brighter and more saturated. On the front of the store (which is actually the back, given the interior layout), the windows previously covered with sale posters are now covered in what appears to be a floral pattern. I like the idea but the pattern doesn't really work because of how small it is.
The updates to the building and facade are nice, though. Inside, the renovation is nearly done, with new department signage going up over the service departments. It's the same decor that went into the Clifton location, which shares ownership with this one. They also now own the Food Universe in Clifton.
The bakery didn't previously have a sign, and the sign for deli still had Compare Foods branding.
The rest of the store hasn't really changed, although the sign over the greens now has a SuperFresh logo instead of its previous Compare Foods logo.
No other significant changes in the rest of the store, although the side wall of the store over the freezer cases has been painted white. Presumably, there will be new decor going in here too.
And the registers used to have short aisles extending out from them, but now it's a more typical setup with a much wider front-end aisle. I wonder if this will be changed in some way (maybe the grocery aisles will be extended). You can see that the front wall is still under construction, too, and there was another area of construction behind customer service, so clearly it's not done yet.

Good to see a longtime supermarket (an A&P, no less!) getting nice upgrades. I'll be back once they're done! In the meantime, check out this weekend's other posts...
